Shades

It can be tempting to view the world in black and white. However, it is in the colors and the shades - the meeting between darkness and light - that the stories unfold. In this series, I explore the concept of shades - both literally and metaphorically. Each piece holds a story, waiting for you to uncover it.

The Mask We Wear
Behind every mask lies a story untold. The figure in the image holds her mask tightly, as if guarding her secrets. Are we all performers in life, carefully curating the roles we play?

The Silent Jester
This figure seems lost in thought, her playful hat contrasting with the pensive expression. A jester's role is to entertain, but what happens when the stage lights dim, and silence falls?

Autumn shades
When the leaves start changing color in autumn, it feels like nature’s consolation prize. The long, bright summer days are gone, but in their place, we’re gifted with long shadows and a myriad of hues. The shades of autumn almost make the trade-off worthwhile.

Winter Light
Winter days in Scandinavia are incredibly dark. On a good day, we’re lucky to see the sun for a couple of hours. But we have a steadfast ally: The moon. A snowy or frozen evening with moonlight casting its shades on the snow or ice can be just as stunning as a summer day - perhaps even more so.

Old Dogs
Dogs and their owners often grow to resemble each other, adopting the same habits. Here, we have a quiet moment with two "old dogs," enjoying the view of a town fading into the shadows.

Reflecting
This image feels like a single frame from a movie. We don’t know what came before or what comes next - there is only the moment. The reflections in the street mirror the woman’s own, and we’re left wondering: What is her story?

Look Up
When life becomes overwhelming, it’s natural to seek shelter. But when the storm passes, remember to step out of the shadows, look up, and appreciate the beauty around you.

Cityscape
As many of you know, the intersection of human-made worlds and eternal natural forces is one of my favorite subjects as an artist. This image captures a cityscape after a rain shower, where the returning sun forms a new world of reflections and shades.
